Purchasing a New Car? How to Make Sure the Interior Stays in Excellent Condition

There are few things more satisfying than being inside a brand new car. Sadly, that feeling often doesn’t last if you aren’t able to keep your new vehicle’s interior in good condition. If you want your car’s upholstery, dashboard, and floors to continue to look like new for years to come, consider these helpful tips.

Use Car Floor Mats

A lot of new vehicles already come with car floor mats, but you can’t assume that your new car will already have some. If you don’t have floor mats in your car, buy a couple to keep the dirt and grime from your shoes off your car’s floor. Be sure to shake your mats out regularly as well.

Put Garbage in Its Place

You might already be telling yourself that you don’t want any garbage in your car, but it just seems inevitable that you will have a few receipts, empty drink cups, and candy wrappers sitting around eventually. Make it a point to look over your car regularly and throw out any garbage that you find, and invest in some kind of trash bag or bin that you can keep in your car.

Keep Auto Wipes Handy

If you want to keep your dashboard, steering wheel, and any other surfaces you might touch clean, have some pre-moistened auto wipes handy in your vehicle. They can be stored safely in your glove compartment until you need them.

Keep Up With Regular Vehicle Maintenance

You might not think a regular tune-up can affect your car’s interior, but regular vehicle maintenance can keep dust from building up on your upholstery and dashboard. You might not notice this build-up right away, but it is there, and it will keep accumulating if you skip one too many trips to your mechanic.

No Smoking

If you smoke or you give rides to people who do, make it a rule to never smoke in your car. Not only will it be all but impossible to get rid of the smell, but the smoke can discolor your upholstery and your dashboard surface. Even if you drive with your windows down and blow smoke outside, you can still develop issues with your car’s interior.

Keeping your car’s interior pristine isn’t that difficult, but it’s easy to get too comfortable and lax with your rules. Be careful about what you bring into your vehicle and clean up any messes as they happen. Even if your car isn’t new anymore, its interior can still look like new as long as you can be careful when you drive.
