The Nissan Altima is one of the most popular cars on the road today. Affordable and dependable, it’s a favorite of commuters and families all over the country. If you are interested in the Altima, it’s generally a good idea to see what changes have occurred over the past four model years.
2018 Nissan Altima
At its heart, the 2018 Nissan Altima was the definition of the daily driver. Dependable, efficient, and comfortable, it was a car that was favored by drivers who needed to drive to work or to get their families around town. Though it lacked some of the luxury features that would come later, it remains an incredibly popular pick for drivers and is still commonly sold today for those looking for style with affordability.
2019 Nissan Altima
Much of what went into the 2019 Altima came in the form of aesthetic upgrades. The 2019 added tail-lights that were more reminiscent of the Lexus brand and headlights that looked more like those found on other luxury brands, while adding a host of technological upgrades in the dash. The 2019 Altima also added some high-end safety features like blind-spot alerts and pedestrian detection. Under the hood, though, the vehicle was virtually the same as its predecessor.
2020 Nissan Altima
There honestly wasn’t much of a change in terms of performance when Nissan updated the Altima for 2020, with virtually the same horsepower and MPG specs as in the 2019 model. Even the exterior remained relatively similar, with updated headlights. It’s again the technological toys that had the biggest change, with the 2020 model now sporting a 360 degree camera and some new safety features that help maintain the car’s reputation as one of the safest on the road.
2021 Nissan Altima
Fans of the 2019 Altima will generally continue to love the 2021 Altima. The vehicle has received a few minor refreshes in the interior, including a flat-bottom steering wheel, but it’s virtually the same car that’s been rolled out for the last two models. The interior feels a little bit cleaner and sportier, but it’s largely the same reliable car that Nissan has been making for years.
While Nissan might not have made many major changes in the Altima, that’s not always a bad thing. The car continues to be reliable and easy to drive, both great features for its target audience. The biggest difference is between the 2018 and its successors, so make sure you look at the feature list to figure out which one best suits your needs.
