Cabin Air Filter Change – Should I Go To The Dealership?

Cabin filter? What’s that? It’s a part that many new vehicles have that many owners have no idea about. Dealerships will tell you it needs replacing at or around every 20,000 km mark in your maintenance cycle. It’s a bread and butter get rich tactic for them. Yes, you do need to change it, but no, you do not need to pay their absurdly high prices. Now, don’t get me wrong, every mechanic and dealership has their place when it comes to car repair / maintenance – especially on a newer vehicle. However, there are also some things that they do that you are 100% capable of doing yourself and saving tons of money on- especially when a 5 minute job comes with an outrageous price tag. Replacing your cabin air filter is one of those easy tasks and typically takes about 5 minutes or less saving you in the realm of $50 or more.

How easy is it? Glad you asked…Take a look at how fast we change the cabin filter on a 2016 Toyota Rav 4 here after the dealership wanted just over $70 + tax. Many other vehicles are just as easy.
